Right now, I have no complaints about my charging system, and

Skip, try a simple fathom of white sewing thread. It will be more
accurate, cheeper, smaller/more compact, and serve several other
functions ie less stuff on the boat.

Dump the lazer gizmo.........................

Well, yes :{)) However, I already have this neat belt providing about
the same accuracy.

My challenge, in any direction, will be to get as wide a purchase -
most likely will have to be from the engine side of the water pump
pulley, due to the dish of the pulley on the shaft - as possible to
minimize error.

The bit with the thread (of which we have an ample sufficiency aboard,
for the Sailrite) is a little challenging in that I'll have to keep re-
doing it as I tweak the mount, whereas if I fix it, the laser will be
static and all I'll have to do is mess with the alternator mount until
it's perfect.

My sense of things is that it's pretty close, as it is, as things have
settled down in there, even with a belt which is too long (limited
adjustment).

For those keeping score (I don't have a log entry started yet, so this
info isn't "up" yet), we're going to make Norfolk today, or as far
beyond as we can go to a good anchorage, and assess our weather. When
it's right, we're gone. As we may not have internet when that
happens, we'll be checking in on the Maritime Mobile net at 2200Z on
14.300. Either I've been in horrible conditions lately, or lousy
locations, but we've had very poor reception for about a week, and
nobody can hear us (at all, or at least based on the lack of response
to a relay request), so I don't know if there is some issue with the
radio or it will all go away at sea.

In any case, once we leave, we'll be without access for however long
it takes to get to NYC...

L8R, y'all
