Does propane hose deteoriate?

A friend says that standard black rubber propane hose gets old and
goes bad - needs to be replaced. Any truth in this ?

Does propane hose deteoriate?

Pretty much any black rubber hose will eventually dry rot and start to
crack.
Takes a while though, especially if it is in not exposed to sun (UV).

Does propane hose deteoriate?

Ozone is probably the principal destroyer of most rubbers .... then UV,
oxygen, etc. As long as we have thunderstorms, internal combustion
engines, electric sparks, etc. .....
If you really want to destroy your rubber hosing, install an ozone
generator on your boat.
If the hose appears hard or the surface has started to 'crumble' or
develope ANY surface cracks ... replace it immediately.

But how much UV do you have below deck? You should occasionally test
that the system holds pressure by closing the valve on the bottle
while leaving the solenoid valve open.
