CNN on wifi now FREE!
Just a headsup I thought you liveaboards who have broadband wifi but not
cable TV would like to know..... I subscribed to CNN Pipeline after dumping Alltel's Axcess TV, which they only let you watch in 10 minute increments which is stupid. Pipeline has 4 live streams to choose from, plus a huge array of on-demand news items and other information online 24/7, just like CNN. One of the ondemands is a 3 minute news update that's updated hourly if you're in a hurry or just don't have the time to watch much. I paid $25/year for Pipeline, which I thought was very fair. It will work on any wifi link you can access and is NOT IP based so you can use it anywhere your laptop gets a wifi link. The software was/is free and lets you watch all 4 streams in thumbnails, picking what you want. Turn it off and it goes into a background mode that will popup again if there is an important news alert...as long as you're online. Overlooking the obvious pro-government and other biases Time-Warner brings to CNN, it's a fairly good news service. Well, NOW IT'S GONE TOTALLY FREE! The Ministry of Propaganda must have decided it was more valuable to have more people watching than whatever little money it was bringing into the beast's treasury. So, if you sign up for it now, it's free. They even refunded $22 of my $25 to my credit card for the paying customers. One can only speculate, of course, on the MOTIVES of the corporation giving up this revenue source that must cost them plenty to run. Pipeline even has its own studio...not cheap. CNN on wifi now FREE!
it's a pay to see service with a free trial subscription.
unfortunately the website has no information as to cost and needs a credit card for you to sign up for the free trial service. Seems like an oxymoron to give no information on the subscription cost to a news service but maybe their confidential source was arrested before he or she could pass on the information. I'll pass. Here's the link: http://www.cnn.com/pipeline/ On Sun, 03 Jun 2007 23:52:42 -0400, Wayne.B wrote: On Sat, 02 Jun 2007 16:49:36 +0000, Larry wrote: Just a headsup I thought you liveaboards who have broadband wifi but not cable TV would like to know.....
