Seems to me we are better off without the political discussions as everyone pretty much has their mind made up on that subject and aren't interested in discussion. Not me. I'm a liberal. g -- Capt. That only shows how much one knows about US politics and political history. Not if one is patriotic as not one patriotic question was asked. I passed with 26 and I live in Canada and was born and educated in the UK but I'm by no means a patriotic Yank. The whole world just finds it funny how you guys down there just go on and on about how grand your not so grand nation is. One century you guys will step out of the bubble and look in on yourselves for the first time and see what you guys really are as a whole, or is it a hole? meeooowww!! how bitter!! we're not grand, we are GRRRRREAT! [as tony the tiger says] that is; great, big, kick-your-canuckian-a*s great. |

The view of Dover harbor, the white chalk cliffs and the breakwater was fantastic. There is a marina there that seemed to have a lot of cruising boats. I'd like to see the castle from the sea someday. Don W. There ya go! Sea and boats. I would like to do one of those canal boat cruises one day, the narrow boats. I well recall a winter's day when I was travelling across England through the Midlands and off in the distance was a canal; with dozens of narrow boats, most of them wisping smoke from their chimneys. So very homey and one reason we have a solid-fuel heater on our boat. My daughter and her family lived many years on a canal barge in Holland but now they just live in a house in Ipswich. Not nearly as much fun, nor as roomy. Granddad and grandmother have to stay in a B&B or hotel. We were in Ipswich on Monday to take pictures of the duplex my wife's family lived in when she was little. She was born in the hospital at what was then the 75th Tactical at RAF Ben****ers just down the road. We had a nice visit in Ipswich also. There is a wide river which cuts from the English channel all the way into town, with many marinas and sailboats along it. The tide along the English channel must be dramatic, as at low tide there are many boats at their moorings sitting in the mud. The river Thames is actually a tidal flow which reverses course depending on whether the tide is coming in or going out. Don W. |

Goooogarty..
I left one thing out .. the first elected president and only "elected" president to be impeached.. Bill Clinton. Johnson was a VP.. not elected president. =============================== "Gogarty" wrote in message ... In article q9FXh.1321$YI1.1290@trndny04, says... The process of impeachment, that is a vote in Congress to "impeach" and a trial in the Senate only took place once in our history. Bill Clinton. The only president to "be impeached". Bzzzzztttt! Wrong! Andrew Johnson (succeeded Lincoln) was impeached but not convicted. |
