Default Boatphone M800 power upgrade..I'm keeping it!

After my initial rage at being scammed into buying this 1/4 watt
monstrous bagphone, I came to realize the cellular industry has screwed
up and given me a NEW, GPS-enabled phone that will STILL allow me to
connect the phone, easily, to my already-installed DA4000 3W/2W bi-
directional power amp I already have. NONE of the phones I've
encountered have a proper RF output connector to exploit like this. My
rage turned to revenge...(c;

I pulled the M800's metal frame it's all mounted on out of the nylon bag,
after disconnecting its battery to have a look UNDER the metal deck the
candy bar is firmly mounted to. There is a LARGE, open area under there
only intruded on by a small metal shield cover I have not removed, yet,
but I suspect houses the charger/interconnect and a larger audio power
amp to drive the big speaker that's REALLY LOUD in a quiet restaurant...
(c;

Motorola does sell a "booster" amp that, probably, fits in this space to
bring The Beast up to full power, but I already own a DA4000 bi-
directional, dual band amp I used with the previous V60i off its external
antenna jack in my truck. Now I need to see if I can fit the DA4000 into
this available space under the deck, or whether I'm going to outboard the
DA4000 with a larger gelcell in the "accessory bag" that conveniently
clips to the bottom of The Beast. I have a 6db external antenna I can
mount to the OUTSIDE of The Beast to replace the stupid fold-down rubber
duck that cannot be left "up" in transit because the permanently-mounted
nylon case top has no hole for it. Obviously, this will solve my power
output range problem and bring The Beast up to her full potential as a
powerful bagphone, like the old days.

Cellular screwed up leaving me with a TNC output connector to connect the
amp to The Beast. None of the other little cellphones has an antenna
output connector I saw at the store, so this may be my last chance...

I'm feeling much better with this new direction. 1/4 watt my ass! I
found some Navy RF Radiation Hazard warning stickers someone gave me in
my desk....just for fun....(c;

The HUGE Motorola URL that points to the only place I found the M800's
real output power capabilities now has a tiny URL for your perusal:
