Hi:

With too much time on my hands this last week I blondered on to a mil
contract request. Go to the link and ask your self, why does the usn
need to train a SBT in offshore crusing???

"...Live-Abroad Offshore Sailing..."

Get your tin foil out for this one.

Looks like the Navy is training future bareboat charterers.

Yeah, the question is why... :-)

Possibly to mingle with and ferret out all those subversive Capt Ron
types out there? Undercover DEA work or surveilance? Intelligence
gathering? Wannabe Cuban cruiser interdiction?

Lots of possibilities.

I wasnt too sure what these guys do until I read this discription.
CHeck it. And why would a SBT want to take a 2 week cruising keelboat
course?

I'm not sure if I want the bad guys of the world thinking every
cruising sailboat is full of SEALS.......... Although, maybe that IS a
good idea.

Pirate decoys ?

Wouldn't that be an *interesting* encounter ?

I've met one SEAL who is an expert 505 racing dinghy sailor. His
father was hanging out on our trawler for the day while we were
performing race committee duty about a mile or two offshore at St Pete
Beach. His son, the SEAL, stopped off on our boat at end of day to
say hello to his dad while his buddy sailed the 505 back in single
handed. We offered the son a ride back to the dock but he said no
thanks and jumped overboard to swim back to shore like he did it every
day.

The new SSGN replacement for the Trident subs replaces the ballistic
missiles bargained away with the Russians with 22 missile tubes full of
multiple cruise missiles noone can stop. You'll never know what hit you.

Two of the missile tubes, which are really huge, are loaded with SEAL
team gear for underwater deployment of the nastiest guys on the planet.
I wonder if this "Special Team" has anything to do with those two
tubes....

Look for SSGNs with state names like "Florida"...coming to a pier near
you!

(For reference, their new boat's ball caps are already in my Navy ball
cap collection....(c;.....inside job.)

I have a new strategy to protect the Mexican border. From the border
to inside the USA, 1 mile, we turn it into our OPEN PIT nuclear
waste dump, turning it into a no-mans-land for tens of thousands
of years. Anyone attempting to cross will simply be eaten alive
by neutrons! Problem solved!

Desperate people would cross anyway and bring the radioactive polution right
into your heartland.
