Shaun I have done this, and, while it is certainly a small boat trick, I have done it with a 20 ish pound Danforth with a bit of chain in a 36 foot boat several times and on smaller boats as well... It is just the thing when you: have things set up or have time to set them up, are anchoring under sail, are single or short handed and want to see where you anchor hits the bottom (eg looking for sandy bits in the coral). Otherwise, I think the over the bow method is best. -- Tom. |
