I have an interest in this area and the Choctawhatchee Bay. I don't
know much about marinas that are live aboard friendly.

Any advice, suggestions or caveats?

Doesn't have to be in the bay, but I do need to be able to get to Ft.
Walton Beach daily. Am I correct in my assessment that Destin is out
due to be a bit more touristy than the rest of the area?

I don't live there but I've been there from time to time over the
years. Destin is no more "touristy" than Ft Walton. If you can find a
marina, it should work as a live aboard location as well as any place
else.
