In article , says... Or,,, you can pay $95 dollars and do it yourself.. I've always heard that it is very difficult to do yourself. no? My boat was already documented when I bought her. So was ours. But it still cost a bundle to chnage the owner name and get a new documentation with the same number. It was about $85 for us, but maybe it went up. Of course, this is a "lifetime" payment, there is no annual fee. In MA, it means no annual registration, so it saves money pretty soon. |

Mine was $120, but I had to send a couple of forms twice at $15 a pop, due to a short between the ears. No DMV registration is very nice also. She was previously documented, I kept the same boat name, and certainly changed the owner name (got that one right at least). :-) -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |

I think you need to read the following ::
HOW LONG IS THE CERTIFICATE OF DOCUMENTATION GOOD? A Certificate of Documentation is valid for one year from the date of issue, providing there are NO CHANGES other than a change of owner's address. The Certificate must be renewed on an annual basis. Even though it is up to the owner to assure the document does not expire, the Coast Guard will send a Notice of Renewal to the managing owner approxiamately 45 days prior to expiration. There is no fee for the yearly renewal. See the instruction letter Renewal of Certificate of Documentation elsewhere at this site regarding renewal procedures. ================================================== ===================== http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-m/vdoc/faq.htm The above web site address will give you all the answers. ================================================ "Jeff" wrote in message news ![]() Gogarty wrote: In article , says... You pay once, then renew for free each year. Just like I said. Or are you complaining about the stamp? Actually, you can fax it in. They even give you a month's grace, but don't be later than that, or you get hit with the reinstatement fee. |
