outboard repair advice needed: bad compression
1970's Suzuki Spirit 8. A 2 cylinder 8hp engine which won't fire. It
has gas and spark but the top cylinder measures 50lbs and the bottom cylinder measures 105lbs. Is there any way the cylinder could have gone bad just by sitting unused for two years. Is 105 about right? The seller said it ran fine when I bought it. I know it's dumb but I just got around to trying to start it. I need to find a ring kit for this? Any ideas? |

Yes, when the rings rusted themselves to the cylinder walls from the WATER that was in the cylinder when it was stored. Is 105 about right? The seller said it ran fine when I bought it. I know it's dumb but I just got around to trying to start it. I need to find a ring kit for this? I'll need more than just a ring kit....That's wishful thinking.... |

: so what is involved then? thank you. Cylinder honing? Oversized pistons? New rings? Hard to tell what damage is inside without pulling it all apart. -- There's amazing intelligence in the Universe. You can tell because none of them ever called Earth. |
