Thanks Ric.
Unfortunately, I think I'm only going to be able to get a 6" tube in the space in order to give them enough clearance to glass around it. In that case it's going to be a 4hp unit with about half the thrust--121 lbf-- of what you have. Of course my boat being 7 ft shorter will have a lot less windage than yours. Hopefully I can get a few more posts here on that. If it's going to be too small, it's not worth the $$. Thanks T.O. "Cap'n Ric" wrote in message news:_LhZg.4728$5v5.805@trndny08... I have a Beneteau 473 Sailboat. 47' long about 28,000 Lbs wet/loaded. The bow thruster is: LEWMAR 185TT6 12 VD 8.0 HP 213 Lbs Thrust 7 5/16" Tunnel Diameter It works very well and will easily do everything you list in item 4. "T.O." wrote in message . .. I'm looking for owners of sailboats in the 40 foot range that have a bow thruster installed. Can you tell me: 1-Make and model 2-Tube diameter 3-Ft-lbs of thrust if you know 4-And most importantly, how well does the size thruster you have work? If you had a 10-15 kt direct crosswind, could you easily keep the bow positioned while you backed into a slip or down a fairway?? Thanks all. T.O. |
