This may be a silly question, but here goes, anyway.

Do I need to "test" a new Honda BF15 outboard? --it'll probably be 2
months from when I picked it up from the dealer to the first time in
the water. I would like to start it up and make sure it's running
before I hit the lake. Is that necessary for these motors? .

If so, do I need to use a "ear muff flusher"? I know they have a
garden hose attachment--can that be used to run the engine briefly?
The manual doesn't go into details.
