Default Marina rip offs and horror stories.

Ive been looking around for a suitable marina for my retirement boat in
melbourne florida and have been hearing horror stories about one
particular marina called Waterline and one other marina. I am looking
for opinions on local marinas.

Retired friend of mine told me Waterline marina hit all their customers
with a $10 per foot charge for damages to the marina during last years
hurricane season. So if you had a 40 footer you recieved a $400 bill
in the mail. Yet the marina sustained no real damage. Isnt it illegal
to bill someone without providing a product or service?

He said alot of the former customers moved their boats out but they
quickly filled up again. How can this be? If a local marina has such a
bad local reputation why do boat owners fill these places up?

He also told me that they require a security deposit and nobody local
who has moved to area marinas has gotten their security deposit back
they he knows of. Yet the marina is FULL.

I was told to avoid this marina and one called Eau gallie yacht basin?
could anyone local verify these rumors?
