There is no law, merely etiquette, protocol and practice. Saw a photo
recently of a squadron of US Navy vessels, very one of which was
flying the national ensign from a different point. If they can't get
it right, what can the rest of us do?



If your navy is anything like our navy, it figures!

As the poster said, it's really etiquette, guess I've been sailing so long I
look on these things as cast in stone!

In our navy, every ship of the same class flies the ensign from exactly
the same spot, unless work is being done on the spot or the ship is out
of routine (no crew). I guarantee it.
