I almost stopped in Mattituck, NY today but decided against it without
knowing more about it. Can anyone tell me if there is good depth from the entrance on Long Island Sound all the way up to the turning basin? I need 5 feet and would prefer a little more as a cushion from low tides, waves, etc. Also, is there some/any room to anchor? Jonathan Welch |

It's tight at 5 feet and a number of twists and turns as you go in. The
anchor field is small and tight and it can get rather buggy at night. Sounds inviting doesn't it. Dennis Gibbons wrote in message ... 5 ft is doable with the possible exception of dead low tide and there
is a bit more than that in the anchorage basin at the south end of the channel. It is actually a decent harbor in my opinion, total protection, good holding, lots of dinghy dockage available at the town dock next to the basin, and a quick walk into town with lots of shopping and restaurants. |
