I have been considering building a small power boat for exploring the
local coastline and maybe a trip each yr to the Keys. Somebody
suggested the Tolmann Skiff as being capable of carrying my wife and
kids out to the barrier islands or up and down the coast so i bought
the book "Tolmann Alaskan Skiffs". It says that with a 4 cycle engine
their 20' skiff with a 65 hp engine can get 6 mpg and with a 2 cycle
about 5 mpg. This isnt too bad for such a versatile craft. Any
thoughts on this? What is the fuel economy on other similar sized
boats?
