Until you can point them at a specific boat and are ready to pay to have it
professionally surveyed nobody is going to give you a quote or even an estimate. Especially if you plan to use if for hire. For a 70' er in crewed charter in the Caribbean brace yourself for something on the order of $10K-$15K +/year. OTOH, a 70' charter in very good condition with an experienced skipper, crew and cook that know how to cater to their clients will bring $8-10K a week for 16-20 weeks a year in the Caribbean. But you have to pay booking fees, cruising permits, provisions, maintenance and a host of other things out of that. I have a friend with a 60' something cat chartering in the Windwards. Beautiful spacious 10 bunk boat in gold plater condition. Wife is a trained chef and they have been building their reputation for 8 years. After expenses he pays taxes on about $15K a year. You go into the crewed charter not to make money but because you love the life and very few people love the life more than a few months. BTW, if you intend to charter you better get a 6-pack before you ask for an insurance quote. -- Glenn Ashmore I'm building a 45' cutter in strip/composite.
