I cannot claim credit for how long this thing has lasted as I am the
thrid owner. Furthermore, I can see that this stuffing box is fairly
accessible so tightneing it isnt difficult. However, not being able to
tighten one would make me crazy with worry. I rarely know what I am
doing but I do it anyway. You only hear about the 1 out of 100 things
that work and not the 99 total failures. I do not really take good care
of my boat, i am just paranoid.
