Default Amsteel 12, jacket or core instal. procedure??

I'm interested in replacing my wire/rope halyards with Amsteel 12.. However
with the reduction in line diameter, I will have a problem with the rope
clutches and winches and need to increase the line diameter.

I understand that it is customary to add a jacket or core to this line. I
have read that the cover is recommended over the core.

However, it seems the core would be easier, being inside the 12 strand
Amsteel. I can't quit imagine the procedure for securing the ends of the
jacket when installing it on the outside. Especially where it passes through
the mast openings (internal halyards) and could snag the jacket ends.

Also, since I want to do this at each reef location on the halyard, should I
run this jacket or core continuously or just in the winch/clutch locations
for each service.

Can someone direct me to a link or procedure to add this jacket or core??
