blathered thusly: So do you just take offense to anyone asking questions not placed in your approved phraseology or are you just a dickhead? Interested in dickheads because you like to rub them or suck them? Either way, this is hardly the place to solicit. CN |

Reliable Refrigeration
The secret to reliable and efficient refrigeration is to buy a proven system from one of the few companies that build good reliable boat refrigeration systems. If you must build your own use a proven design or copy an existing system that has tens of thousands of hours of experience on that design. The correct refrigeration for your needs will require a number of decisions, see the slide show on my web site. From the author of books on boat refrigeration http://www.kollmann-marine.com |

Don't you think that very important piece of info should be included if you expect to get any reasonable answers? Why is it so many people these days are too stupid to know how to ask a simple question? CN He's too stupid? Where are you going to put the refrigeration system? Let's see, this is rec.boats.cruising, what do you bet that he's looking to put in in a cruising boat? How about trying to be helpful instead of dumping on someone for asking a question? Did somebody steal your favorite stuffed animal or something? Weebles Wobble (but they don't fall down) Helpful input appears over on alt.sailing.asa where DSK has also posted the same inquiry. CN so are you saying that this is the newbie abuse group? Negative, I posted the same criticism of DSK's inept question-asking abilities on the three groups I read where he posted the same inept question. CN So do you just take offense to anyone asking questions not placed in your approved phraseology or are you just a dickhead? Weebles Wobble (but they don't fall down) Both. John Cairns |

"Capt. Neal®" wrote in message ... "DSK" whined like a limp-wristed wimp. You obviously have nothing intelligent to say on the subject of cruising, sailing, or (distantly related topic) marine refrigeration. DSK Too bad you're too blind to read the post in alt.sailing.asa cut and pasted below . . . "Joe" wrote in message oups.com... DSK wrote: Joe wrote: you building a custom space with a cold plate, and putting the compressor in your engine room? No, they have this marvelous new technology called electricity! I am putting in a 12V freezer, that way it can run when it needs to regardless of what our power config (shore power, underway, anchored, genset running, etc). Even a 12 V electric compressor can be noisy. With just a few feet of plumbing you can have a more proffessional set up and better access to your compressor in the engine room. A refrigerator is a heat pump. It is rather stupid to put the compressor in a hot engine room because it decreases the efficiency of the heat pump when the hot side of the pump is in a hot environment. That just depends. Putting the compressor in the engine room is fine since the purpose of the compressor is to heat up the refrigerant. It's the condenser that is the issue. A water cooled condenser doesn;t much care where it is. An air-cooled unit does need cool air to be efficient. It's far better to put the compressor in as cool and well-ventilated space as can be found on the boat within the limits of the copper tubing to the evaporator, of course. Your knowledge of refrigeration seems to be limited to the Adler-Barbour ads. I hope this helps.
