Dan, this bounced at both addresses:
From: "Skip Gundlach" To: "Daniel E. Best" ; ; "porta bote owners" Subject: Fw: [pbowners] Comments from a long-time supporter Date: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 10:18 PM Hi, Dan (sent to the original poster, cc's to the group, and changing to plain text for Dan's SailMail), ******** ----- Original Message ----- From: porta To: Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 7:08 PM Subject: [pbowners] Comments from a long-time supporter Hi, We are pleased with the informal review and all the positive comments. The seat support holders were redesigned and Skip as well as others with this problem have been notified. PortaTech Skip Gundlach wrote: With his permission, I'm posting an article from rec.boats.cruising Just a followup from the owner of the company. He continues to confuse me with posters one or two attributions below mine, but the inference is that he's sent you info about your seats. ***** Follow up directly to him if not. I expect he'll take good care of you. Meanwhile, Sandy, you may hear from me earlier than later, as originally expected. One of Dan's comments in followup in RBCruising was that since they owned the PB, they'd never taken their inflatable out of the lazarette! Others in that thread indicated they had both and were glad of it, rather than just the commuting use I'd expected to put it to. So, as we refit our cruising home (we've sold our homes and are in a refit mode for the Morgan), we may well get our PB before we leave, instead of after we throw out the hook for months at a time in St. Thomas, commuting daily to some form of income generation. Sandy does follow, at least, "californiaportaboter" or similar name, the original list, but there are many other PB lists. He's known as "porta" on the califirniaportaboter list, . You can read the archives at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PortaBote/ Hi Skip, good to hear from you again. Feel free to repost that usage report (I already posted it to the yahoo list and the Cruising World board). I want to make sure that it is clear that we are still very happy with the 12' PB as a whole and still have not dug our 10' Avon out of the bottom of our large aft storage hold. It's just that it did have a couple of weak points that I felt should be reported since I've been pretty vocal with my support of the PB in various places on the net. |

PB has a film that they show at the boat shows that has someone getting in and out from the water. It may be a more advanced model than ours because ours doesn't have the flat stern. You have a pretty old one, as ours Generation III is square-sterned and about 10 years old. -- Jere Lull Xan-a-Deux ('73 Tanzer 28 #4 out of Tolchester, MD) Xan's Pages: http://members.dca.net/jerelull/X-Main.html Our BVI FAQs (290+ pics) http://homepage.mac.com/jerelull/BVI/ |
