We spent the summer of 2003 cruising the canals of New York, Canada and
Vermont which included the Rideau, Lachine and Richelieu canals in Canada.

Now we are making plans to cruise the Trent-Severn and it presents several
problems that we did not have on the Rideau trip.
Selecting start and finish points for the trip is difficult. Trying to
make a circle as we did before makes for a very long trip and not what we
want to do. So we are faced with trying to come up with a plan for
launching the boats at one point and then retrieving the trailers to take
the boats out at the end of the trip. I'm considering leaving my motorcycle
at the takeout point and riding it back to get the vans from the start
point. We will do the trip West to East so our start will be some where
around Georgian Bay and we don't know for sure yet where we will stop but I
think Lake Champlain. Any way that we do it, this is going to involve a lot
of driving. The best choice would be to drop off the motorcycle on the way
to the launch site or to use public transport and forget about using the
motorcycle.
We got a lot of good advice from this NG for our last trip and I'm seeking
the same again...particularly from anyone who has done a similar trip.
BTW, Is it legal to pull two trailers in Canada? That might make sense for
launching as that would allow us to leave one van at the take out.

I'd forget the motorcycle and just rent a car at the far end and drive
back unless good public transportation was available.
