I'm planning on doing the Inside Passage again next summer and wonder if
anyone in these groups has any ideas about where one might obtain gasoline between Juneau and either Kake or Petersburg. It's a long haul with must-see Tracy Arm in between. I'm hoping for information about a resort or anyone else that could get us a few gallons. (And yes, I have asked this before!) Capt. Jeff |

Jeff NObody has built a town in Stephens Passage in the preceding 12 months, so the answer is the same as last time you asked......... Me |

Jeff:
Can't imagine you haven't thought about other options: throttle way back for better fuel economy, carry some jerry cans on deck (or better yet towed in your dink), put a fuel cache on an intermediate beach somewhere, etc. When we lived in Southeast Alaska years ago Union Oil (and Chevron) used to package gasoline (and the ever-present Blazo) in units of 2 five gallon cans, packed in wooden crates. They were both convenient and relatively safe to carry aboard. (And just the ticket for fuel caches.) Or maybe, if we run across you in our dear old Victory Tug 37--single diesel, 7 knots, 240 gallons of fuel at 2 gph for a range of 840 miles--we'll give you a tow for part of the distance. (Leaving here (San Juan Islands) about next May 1st.) Blue skies and calm seas to you. Dick Behan "Tamaroak" wrote in message ... We plan to go there From Sitka en route to Juneau. Give us particulars
by email and we will be in touch. Have you been to Tracy Arm? If so, which is better Tracy or Endicott? Capt. Jeff |

Yes, we have entertained those options. The boat holds 95 gallons with
an auxilliary tank of 13. Three jerry cans with 18 brings us up to 126, giving us a range of 250 at six knots, which isn't too bad. By using tides and currents a bit we can make the distance and do some exploring of Tracy Arm. The purchase of some more fuel would give us some wiggle room on the distance. Have you been to Tracy Arm? Which is better, Tracy Arm (north) part or the Endicott Arm (south) with Ford's Terror? And email me the name of your boat. We sure would take a tow if you're in the vicinity, or even to tie up for an evening of wisdom! Capt. Jeff |
