Default Outboards and Tillerpilots - compass interference?

How well shielded is your typical OB? I have a mid- 80s Mariner 9.8
two stroke, and will be adding a simrad TP10 this winter- how much
interference will the motor introduce? It'll be 2-3 feet from the
tillerpilot. I know that there's not a lot of ferrous material in the
OB, but I'm not sure how well they shield the ignition on those.
Anyone out there have experience?

Ive got an older navico thats mounted much closer to the motor than yours.I was
having problems with it this summer & thought it was rf interference from the
motor, but it turns out that my tillerpilot mount had moved & caused the
navico to be off level. Ive ran 60s vintage motors as well as solid state
ignition motors as close to 12 " away from the pilot with good results.
