Put it was still possible to go down the ICW even though the damage
was far more widespread IMHO than it has been in Florida.

I went down the year Floyd came through. I was still in the Hudson
when it took out a bunch of boats (mostly from flooding), however the
trip was as usual except for really high water around Myrtle Beach
where the CG closed a section because of boats tearing through and
putting their wakes into people's living rooms. There was a lot of
devastation but overall the ICW was nearly business as usual. Ivan is
causing some problems in the Erie Canal right now but hopefully the
water levels will subside, they always have before.
