It is not nearly as widespread as that....most of the east coast damage
is in Martin, StLucie and Northern PB County from Fran. South PB country, Dade, Broward are all like new at this point. I would assume north of the cape is the same. As far as Charley, that damage was pretty tight and points south around Fort meyers and points north around Sarasota seem to be fine. As for Ivan.... anyone's guess at this point in time I would suggest calling individual marinas in those areas to get advise, or just bypass them by going outside. The best thing we can all do for the florida marine community is SPEND MONEY. If we don't, the developers will just continue to buy up the marinas and build condos and then where will we all be in a couple years. anchorlt wrote: The hurricanes to hit both Florida coasts and the eastern Gulf Coast have left undetermined damage to channel markers and unknown areas of shoaling in the ICW (and some areas offshore), along with severe and widespread damage to shoreside facilities. Any cruising plans for the Florida ICW and eastern Gulf Coast ought now to be reconsidered and postponed for at least several years. The only area still good for cruising in Florida is the Keys, at least for the timebeing. |
