Default starting a diesel after 2 years - any tips?

All the stuff you list is fine except dont 'just turn it on'

A good possibility is that the piston rings have rusted/frozen to the
piston ring grooves. Suggest that you remove the injector and pour a
table spoon of Marvel Mystery Oil into the combustion chamber and let
soak for a week or so. Remove the old crankcase oil and fill with
Marvel Mystery Oil. After soaking for a week rotate the crankshaft back
and forth *by hand* with a wrench; but do NOT force it - if you do you
can break the rings. Just keep rocking back and forth with light to
moderate pressure until the crankshaft will turn without binding. After
the piston rings are verified to be free, then SPIN the crankshaft with
the starter.... 10-15 seconds, Stop, 10-15 seconds, stop. do this quite
a few times. This will polish the cylinder walls if any rust has
formed there. Then fill the crankcase with a 50:50 mixture of MMO and
regular crankcase oil and start the engine. Keep a rag handy to jamb
into the air intake in case the engine starts to 'over-spin'/'run
away'. Run at low to moderate idle speed .... but at NO LOAD ( dont
engage the transmission) and run until up to a good normal operating
temperature. Change the crankcase oil back to regular oil; then, begin
slowly to apply load to the engine.

This should repolish all the internals (even rusted internals).

Even if the engine is totally frozen and you cant budge the crankshaft,
have patience and keep soaking and applying light pressure until the
rings break free. Usually in the worst case, in a week or so
everything will break loose.

Marvel Mystery Oil is obtained through many of the national chain auto
stores. .

Ahoy, it's a one cylinder Yanmar, about 25 years old but the clock
says 1360 hrs. It was running fine when beached and sat derelict for 2
years. They didn't do any storage procedure at all, just shut it off
and hitched-hiked home. Is there some series of tasks to do first
before cranking? I assume I would drain the tank, lines, change the
filter, install a battery, change the oil, bleed the injector and see
if it starts. So what's the right way? Thanks for your time.
