![]() I tried to warm Capt. Skippy several years ago that his sailing life would be severely curtailed by his better half. I often told him that women were nesters and they sure didn't consider a boat sailing upon the watery parts of the globe to be an adequate nest or even a nest at all. For women, their nests can't move around. Their nests must remain in one place so they feel comfortable in that they surround themselves with friends and acquaintances who also don't move around. Also, women are strange in that they are only truly comfortable when they surround themselves with LOTS of belongings. This means their nest must consist of a very large house with many, many rooms in which they can store all their memorabilia. Women must be able to lean over the back fence and gossip with well-known neighbors. Women must be able to have access to reliable air conditioning and thousands of gallons of hot water for their sometimes twice daily ablutions. And, heaven forbid, women should limit their use of electricity. Why, they think the grid was invented just for them. Women also need to feel loved and appreciated by all their relatives. Women feel lost when isolated for significant periods of time away from their relatives, and especially their children and grandchildren. The ONLY viable solution, Skippy, is for you to buy Lydia a very large and very comfortable house close by her relatives. Then offer her a chance to go sailing with you and she will refuse claiming she is needed and has too many obligations at home. This way you will have a place to return if and when you tire of sailing. But, in the meanwhile, put up some "crew needed" adverts but don't tell Lydia about them. Advertise for a young, adventurous, female with no encumbrances who is wishing to have a sailing adventure or two and see some of the world such as the Bahamas. A young, fit female often wants to see some of the world before she settles down and raises a family and establishes herself ashore. These adventuresome young ladies are a total joy to interact with as their attitude is one of freedom, sharing of the good times, having fun, enjoying sex for sex sake, etc. They usually like to cook and enjoy preparing meals. Go for it, Skippy! If you don't, I fear you will only dream about sailing from this time forward. -- Sir Gregory |
