The multi-year calendar watch is one of the most sophisticated and unique watches that Orient offers. Though there are many features to this watch, you should not be intimidated. This watch is engineered so that you can use it to your full advantage. This watch also enables you to view the full monthly calendar for the next 16 years. You may never need to look at another calendar again. Further, this watch allows you determine the time of cities in different time zones, e.g. Dubai, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. The dial (face) of the watch may be one of Orient’s most complex designs. These features present you with options not normally found in most watches. For example, the multi-year calendar provides a full monthly calendar. By simply adjusting the year with the month (located on the top portion of the dial) by clicking the push button (located at the 2 o’clock position,) you can view the day of the week and how it matches with the date of the watch. When you look at the calendar on the bottom portion of the dial, you will notice that the days of the week correspond to the day. On the top portion of the dial, you will notice that the years and the months correspond with one another. To adjust the calendar, you must use the push button to match the current year to the month that you are in. Then, you will see that the days of the week are aligned to the monthly calendar on the bottom half of the dial. January and February will show up twice in the calendar. The reason for this is due to leap years. In a leap year, align the red highlighted January and February. You will notice that this watch has a shouldered crown (time-setting knob). The crown allows you to change the date and time hands, while the shoulders allow for added protection of the crowns. There are 2 different levels for the crown in the 3 o’clock position. The first level corresponds with the day of the week while the second level corresponds with the hour and minute hands. To adjust the time zones, you must rotate the inner bezel slide rule (4 o’clock position) to move the inner bezel (outer ring of the dial). The time zone works on a 24-hour scale, so each hour marker corresponds to 2 hours for the world time. There are many cities written in the inner bezel, and you must position the time bezel to the correct time of that city. For example: if it is noon in Los Angeles, align Los Angeles to the hour hand. You will notice that Dubai is over the 6 o’clock hour indicator. Since it is in 24-hour scales, Dubai is 12 hours ahead of Los Angeles. Other features of this watch include the luminescent hour and minute hands, as well as the hour indicators. Also, this watch can withstand water in depths of up to 50 meters. You will notice that this watch has an exhibition caseback. The owner can view the mechanics of the watch including the rotor (semi-circular weight that turns on a pivot). When viewing the exhibition caseback, you will see that there are no battery capacitors. The reason for this is because this watch is mechanic. It will store power in the spring of the watch. Only when the watch is stationary is when the power will run out. The metal band for this watch comes in both matte and finished links. This collection only comes in solid stainless steel bands. The watch uses a deployment clasp which gives the owner more security so that it does not come off unintentionally. The 3 variations to this watch include a black dial, a blue dial, and a white dial.
