Out and about
So the snow is leaving. Roads are clear, but the bay and rivers are still
ice-bound. I decide to dust-off my bicycle and shake out the winter cobwebs. 50 degrees out, slight breeze, sunny. I drag the bike up out of the basement, puffing a little. I pump up the tires, puffing a bit harder. I make a loop around town, a mile and half door to door. I thought I was gonna die. Hello, spring. Good to see you again. |

Nice and sunny today and the boat is still covered in case it is a false dawn (or false spring) but today I got to work on prepping the bottom for antifouling even though I was treading around the boat in snow. I was the last out in the autumn because I have every intention of being first in once the launching dock become icefree. It has been a lot of snow this winter but always hovering just below zero (celsius) so my snow thrower has had a lot of trouble blocking up with solid stuff and I have had to resort to the shovel on many occasions. I had planned to be ready to go by now. |
