Need help on using the ENC Electronic charts
 

I have three chart readers: Fugawi View, Caris Easy-ENC, and Seven
Seas Seemydenc.

I am only able to get Fugawi View to work. I suspect that the other
two programs are more capable, but I can't figure them out.

Caris Easy-ENC is anything but and gives me an error that the S-57
type files (extension .000) are incorrect.

The Seven Seas Seemydenc program will load a chart but seems to have
no easy controls to move around on the chart. Maybe I am missing
something here.

Does anyone have a complete explaination (maybe step-by-step) on how
to use these programs?

Unfortunately I do not. I have only tried "Seemydenc" at this point,
and at best I would rate it as a "work in progress". There are ways
to move around and zoom in/out but it takes effort to find it, and I
don't recall the specifics at the moment.

What we need, of course, is a fuly functioning navigations suite with
the same look and feel as the better packages currently available.
That would be worth paying for in my opinion if the charts continue to
be free.

format charts.

it will not respond to a GPS, however once it's installed you can

Another to try for viewer NavPak Pro http://www.globenav.com/ Doubt
the demo is gps enabled but if know your way round with a sextant,
believe you can use them.

Need help on using the ENC Electronic charts
 

i just began playing with the navpak demo. they have a PDA version,
which, as far as i know, is the only stand alone (i.e not requiring
cf que or ique) PDA nav program that uses vector charts.

i find it to be highly non-intutive to use. there doesn't seem to
be a toolbar for example. still, i am going to stick with it until
the free trial expires - which i think is only a few days. there is
a yahoo user group which may help.
