I have found a pretty smart looking company but have not seen too many
of their installations around. Seems like a fairly new product but was wondering if anyone had thoughts on these? http://www.duraports.com/products/marineport/ Please let me know what you think. |

Looks good and sounds practical. However, strong wind can get into the
"tent" through the open bottom and turn it over. No opening should be present to allow wind in. The design should allow the wind to go over the canvas shelter in a continuous flow. In Canada, automobile snow shelters have a proven design for the height of a normal car. They are design with about a ten degree slope on each side. Soon as the height of the shelter increases so is the windage. Snow shelter height enough for tractor trailer have been used with negative results, they flip over, even when well anchored. The coin set design or pyramid approach are better suited to reduce windage. wrote in message oups.com... I put in a call and they seem somewhat expensive but I was pretty
impressed with their knowlegde about steel structures and passion for the design. They seem to have connections in the fabric industry and I was even told that the CEO has a T-top boat. They are more interested it seems in larger scale installations though wrote: wrote: I have found a pretty smart looking company but have not seen too many of their installations around. How much is one for a boat that has a T-top? A regular boat cover for a boat that has a T-top is not cheap (something like $550 when I bought mine), and is very hot to work inside/under the boat cover in summer (try to avoid sun burn) even with two side-openings opened for ventilation. Yes, I am going to mount a window air-conditioner next to the boat to help this department; but I am still interested to know about yours. The car ports that are commonly available in stores are cheap; but they are not tall enough to store a boat that has a T-top. Jay Chan |
