Default Salvage restoration

Does anyone out there have any experience in repairing and or restoring
boats that have been submerged?

I'm interested in taking on such a project and welcome any and all comments.

Thanks,

Bob

It would, to some extent, depend on the hull material and if it is wood, how
long it was underwater.

A solid fiberglass boat would suffer little of now effect from being
submerged for upto several years. The engine would be a loss within a couple
days if not handled properly when recovered. After that, the salt water
would distroy a some of the polished and machined surfaces.

Electrical should be replaced no matter how breif the submerged time was..

Now it you talking about a wooden boat, the wood and fastners will survive
for years but if it is ordinary exterior ply this might start delamination.
And glass sheathing will start to loosen after a few days/weeks (however
long it take the water to penetrate the unsealed laminate edges.

Beyond a couple years, you would have to be concerned with marine bores in
salt water.
