Hi steen,

4 oz seem to be 4 ounces. Ounces are for measuring weight, so 4 ounces must
be 0.1134 kg or 113.4 g. For to know how much the weight per square meter
is, you should devide those 113.4 g through the number ob quare meters of
your piece of glass cloth.

Example: In these four ounces are for a glass cloth of 0.25 square meters,
it would be 456.6 gr/m2!

I hope, Im right!

Funny those english and american people, they measure their tire pressure in
libbles per square inch!?

regards from germany

Juergen

Ounces/square yard * 33.91 = Grams/square meter

Its not a straight units conversion. I was reading a book about sail
making recently. There is something about cloth width which makes 4 oz
cloth not equal to 4 oz per sq yard in either the US or the UK. The book
has gone back to the public library so I can't post the information. I
don't rmember if its bigger in the US or in the UK.

Sailcloth weight is different. It's measured as the weight of a lineal yard at a
width of 28", i think. So, '6 oz.' sailcloth is actually about 7.7 oz/yd.^2.

Fiberglass mat is measured in oz./ft^2. So 3/4 oz. mat is 6.75 oz./yd.^2 .

Sorry. I was not being smart. IIRC mat is on oz/sqft, cloth in
oz/sqyd??? I always used to hate it.
