I have an old 84 buick century that I recently had to replace. It
still barely runs, but it's not worth enough to sell. Before I give it away, are there any parts I should salvage that would be usefull in my boat project? Is there anything else fun and interesting you guys can think of that I could build out of the parts of an old car? Any suggestions are welcome... Thanks, NLC |

Before I give
it away, are there any parts I should salvage that would be useful in my boat project? The hood ornament would make a good coaster for happy hour! -- (¯`·._.· £ãrrÿ ·._.·´¯) "NLC" wrote in message om... I have an old 84 buick century that I recently had to replace. ![]() does it have "captain's" seats? I heard of someone hooking up an alternator to a lawn mower motor to generate electicticy to charge a boat's battery during a cruise of the canals in France. I usually take out electric motors and gear assm. from elec. windows,
windshield wipers, blowers, etc.. Some of them are surprisingly powerful. I'm currently building a 7.5 inch gauge train for my grandson and will power it with some of those motors I have laying around. I once saw a good sized Hunter that the owner air conditioned with the AC off a Volkswagen. He mounted the compressor on the inside of the engine box and drove it with a belt from the aux diesel. A lever on the mount engaged the compressor. Should work. with some adjustment, for refrigeration as well. My cousin build a log splitter powered by a power steering pump and the hydraulic ram. You might want to keep the alternator as a spare, Or if it's a Delco 108 amp,
build it up a little as a primary alt. Does it have a decient stereo? Good luck, K |
