Just completed my dolly for my MiniCups. It is based on two 16'
Aluminum tubes and two 12" wheels. I am shocked at how heavy the boat feels while using it although I have a lot of leverage. I may have some water in the "watertight" forward compartment of this one as I do know I have a serious crack in the cockpit. I'll post pics on my site "MiniCup Madness) as soon as I take em. |

I set my dolly up to have 4 wheels rather than the standard 2. It made a
huge difference in how easy it was to manouver the boats. I just had to remember to hang on to the dolly when going down the ramp g. -- Andrew Butchart wrote in message oups.com... Your experiments with making a dolly were my inspiration but being
incapable of following directions I just had to do it my way. I am giving some thought to going down the ramp with it as it would be easy to lose control. Right now, I hold the tongue of the trailer with TWO MiniCups on it and back it down the ramp by hand because the ramp has such a serious dogleg that I cannot do it by truck. I actually do this by myself although ti is kinda difficult, hence the dolly. |

I have seen people build dolly with four wheels, but they generally make all four wheels able to swivel. it makes the whold thing very menuverable, esp. for storage in a shed or such. You can push the darn thing any direction you want and it goes there. just my thoughts.... email: dallyn_spam at yahoo dot com please respond in this NG so others can share your wisdom as well! |

I scooped about 3 gals of water from the cockpit, a life jacket, the
rudder and rudder box and the dagger board. It seems lighter now. I think this'll work. |

You might try running a line between the truck hitch and the trailer tongue to use as a brake. Wrap it once around your body and ease it off as you ease the trailer down the ramp. To get the loaded trailer up the ramp the mainsheet and blocks from one of the boats would help. I've seen the crank on the trailer used to wind it up the ramp. Attach the loose end to the hitch on the truck. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ William R Watt National Capital FreeNet Ottawa's free community network homepage: www.ncf.ca/~ag384/top.htm warning: non-FreeNet email must have "notspam" in subject or it's returned |
