![]() "Jim Thompson" wrote in message ... We want to build a small L-shaped bench for the flybridge on a 30' powerboat. It will be self-contained (not built into the flybridge). We want to keep the weight down, and it must be water resistant. What is the best material? I wondered about 1/4' plywood braced with a frame of 1x1" wood and covered with epoxy/cloth? Jim unless you use the 1"x1" to also stiffen the plywood, 1/4" will feel a bit bouncy/flimsy. I'd suggest 3/8". Otherwise it's hard to beat plywood for what you are proposing. Just make sure you coat the plywood well with at least 2 coats of epoxy, especially at exposed end grain. -- Evan Gatehouse you'll have to rewrite my email address to get to me ceilydh AT 3web dot net (fools the spammers) |
