Regatta del Sol al Sol
http://charthorizon.com/races/2008_t...ujeres/htdocs/
Always a crap shoot traveling w/strangers. Tried explaining to the skipper and co-captain that using the AP was a violation of the rules of racing, the co-captain said something positively imbecilic about that not being in the sailing instructions. Isla Mujeres has changed quite a bit since the last time I was there, I can understand the locals doing the race, doubt if I'll do it again, it was more like a regatta than a race anyways, some of the ratings in the cruising class boats were pretty off the wall. And I actually got to do a little land travel this time, the tourist thing. Took all day to visit Tulum but it was worth the hike. The race/sail down was uneventful, I did not sail back with these guys. To track the boat, enter "Full Monty", will show the race track of that boat. http://travel.webshots.com/album/563139682bwGKVQ All I've had time to download, have around 400 images to look at, trying to find the best to post and this desktop has seen better days. John Cairns Sounds like it was a great trip despite the less-than-optimal traveling companions. The photos of Tulum are excellent, thanks for posting. It's nice to hear from you again, too. http://charthorizon.com/races/2008_t...ujeres/htdocs/ Hey John, Looks like you guys almost went to Cuba! Trying to get a little land breeze, or just the slant you had to take? Looks like it would have been a pretty fun race. Nice to see another old-timer pop up on the group, thanks for the post. Mike |
