If you consider going to a concert by one of the all-time greats
such
as James Galway or Itzhak Perlman as "dinner & a show" then you
should
give your ticket to somebody who can appreciate it.


Well, it sure wouldn't be you. The sad part is that fake sophisticates
like you actually think that you somehow own the intellectual rights
of apreciation to classical music. What a sad person you are.
Classical is for everyone and someone with a good ear, and little
knowledge can love it far more than you. What a pompous ass you
are...first about sailing and now about music!


Picasso was an outstanding genius but he wasted most of his life &
his
talent being Picasso.


Who cares about your thoughts on Picasso. He did what he wanted and it
was his talent to use as he wished. You're entitled to your primitive
opinions, but don't think for a second that you don't sound like a
inflated ass commenting on Picasso.

The most impressive work of his that I've seen
was in the Picasso museum in Paris, a small collage of a bullfight.
When you look at it the first time, it looks like a colored paper &
tinfoil collage of a bullfight scene. When you look closely, you
realize it's a painting... and that it's extraordinarily realistic.



Realistic? Golly, you must have never absorbed anything about
Picasso's intent or style in your whole life.


Now tell us about any exhibits of Renoir or Van Gogh or Breughel
etc
etc you may have seen & remembered.


I've seen Starry Night. So? Should I give you my impression of it, my
emotional reaction? Let's just say I liked it, but I'd hate to have it
hanging in my home.


"Man in the High Tower" could be considered a classic by some sci-
fi
fans. Not his best IMHO.


Man in the High Tower was not his best writing, but it's an
extraordinary detailed work.


Not really. I have a lot of other things to do with my life.


That sounds pretty funny, Doug. I have a 3 year old son. I sail my
boat 3 times per week, usually with my son. I've been two a live
concert this month and spent time listening to music. I've read two
books in the last three weeks. I'm working on my own book. And on top
of that all I can still find loads of time for my wife, child, music,
movies and a sweet 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Oh, and I have a new
house and investment property. So how is it that you now lost your
sailboat and power about, but still have no time for great films?


You seem to be rather bitter, Bubbles, and you certainly have a
negative view of marriage.


I have a bitter view of YOUR marriage. Perhaps it echoes what I've
seen happen to others. She took away your sailboat, Doug. That's the
long and short of it. You WERE looking at nice sailboats for a while
hoping she'd go for one. But she wanted the trawler and you cut your
losses. You should have cut them sooner.


Do you mean that you only have a boat because your wife lets you?



At least the comment above makes it clear who's really bitter, Doug!
My wife loves me and has made sure that we have a sailboat. She made
it her priority because she knew it was something important to me.
We've been aboard some hefty trawlers and luxury yachts and she's
gained the sense to know how offensive they are. Perhaps she learned
it from me, but that's just fine. She sees no point in being on the
water and powering about in a fake tugboat. Thank god.


Now all you have to do is learn to actually sail.


Sure, Doug! What else can you say? I'll post pics of the sail flying
soon along with the interesting specs.
As usual everyone here talks a good game, but I'm actually the only
one PLAYING a good game by actually sailing.
