It seems that my gedunking has led me, not to a sailor's hangout, but to an
inferno of devils. What say ye, devils, are there any sailors here?

There are a few around and some that are really helpful. I'm new to
sailing and I have gotten a lot of good help but you have to start the
thread on sailing if you don't want to read about politics or Macs.
This group is Almost unbearable but if you get people going about
sailing there may be a few worthy posts.

There are a bunch of actual sailors and few frauds. Both groups are easy to
spot.

Having filtered (and continuing to filter) all the flonkers over the past
year or so, the appearance here is one of mostly sailors with very few
non-sailors. But as you well know, sailors and devils are not mutually
exclusive.

Just about everyone is a sailor, different styles, differents places.
A few words about the pecking order here. First, Ganz is top dog (Just
read he first post to you, it tells all). He'll tell you he's been
here longer than anyone else and somehow that makes him better. Agree
with him on politics and any other issue or he'll launch personal
attacks, abuse against you and even go as far as reporting you to your
news service provider to have your service terminated. Do not question
him or anything about him because you will be called a liar. He is
top dog and enforces it. The rest of the group is a great bunch. The
banter at times seems a bit rough but that just shows how well
everyone else gets along. Jump right on in, it may take a bit for
people to warm up to you but keep trying. Just remember the top dog
bites but he can easily be ignored.

Cyrus

More like top netKKKop. But you gotta excuse his behavior. Check out
some of Ed Gordon's posts and click on the link in his sig and you'll
see what I mean.

You'll also find a fair number of people hiding behind sock puppets here.
For example, "Cyrus" also posted within the last month as "Nathan
Branden,"
"Norm Howe," "Herb Sewell," and "Juan Fangio." And that counts just the
posts he made from Alt.net. Sometimes he forgets to set the "No Archive"
header, so you could probably go back and find a number of other socks he
uses if you were so inclined.

Yep. I'm top dog... wow. What an honor! Thanks.
