Hi ASA-ers, if there are any of you left!
Looks like the group is struggling a bit again. Anyway, a quick note: The Admiral has flown in to join me here at Nuka Hiva, since my two crew decided they'd had enough fun, and their lives were calling them. Life aboard is much better now! We have been enjoying this island so much we can't seem to leave. We keep coming back to this "main bay" Taiohae where there is a cute little town and a wifi hotspot that works pretty well for us out here at anchor. We've also been enjoying several days at beautiful Daniel's Bay (Hakatea), where we think they filmed the first "Survivor" show, and Hanga Haa, where the village of Taipivai is, and supposedly where Herman Melville hung out for awhile and got his material for his book Typee. The skeeters are bad here, and it rains alot too, so don't feel too bad that you're not here... I finaly got around to transcribing the daily scribblings from my trip journal, and posting them on the website, so if you are interested in what a 23 day passage across the Pacific is like (pretty boring) you can check it out he http://www.sailinglinks.com/ship's_journal.htm Other than that, not much else to report. They're having a pig roast with local dancing and music on Saturday, so we may have to hang around for that, but one of these days we really have to get going to the Tuamotus... Happy sails to you, Mike and Barb s/y Arabella www.sailinglinks.com |
