It's been a long time, Katy, but IIRC the school system I was in didn't put
off such things until the 9th grade. They covered it earlier in something
called "science."

You learned mineral classification, how to read seismic charts,
determine barometric pressure and dewpoint, and read topographical maps
in grade school? My, you must have been in the Yale Prep school....I
went to a very good parochial school during grade school and while those
topics may have been mentioned or glossed over, they were not actively
studied...and I think that, for the most, aprt, that is true all
over...too bad Tad pole isn;'t here to take you to task...
