Default Lasers at sea

One of these might be handy to wake up the bridge of a ship on a
steady vector, that you are not sure they see you, and they fail to
answer the VHF.

80,000 ft range. Might not be legal, but hey, neither is running down
people.

If they had so many listeners, why didn't they get the advertising
revenue? Surly politically appropriate content could be negotiated.

advertising on a free radio station had been made illegal in 1967, so it
was difficult for them to get international advertisers who were prepared
to sail against the wind of governmental censorship.
