Perhaps I was mistaken - there was a protest in Portland yesterday. However, there was no mention in the Portland paper of a burning in effigy. The writeup described it as a peaceful protest. Of the hundred pictures posted, there is one that might have been the aftermath of such an event. However, it was not the central focus of the demonstration, and there was no news coverage of it at all. Claiming that this singular event, if it occurred at all, is representative of the entire liberal half of the population is shameful. I hear it said all the time, "Why don't peace-loving Muslims denounce the Islamic terrorists?" It is asked because you don't hear peace-loving Muslims denounce Islamic terrorist. It's because, for the most part, they don't denounce terrorists because they're fellow Muslims. The same question can be asked of Democrats. "Why don't moderate Democrats denounce the left-wing, soldier-effigy-burning radical leftists?" I don't hear you denounce them. I do hear you denounce the person who brought up the subject. This leads me to believe you support these flag burning, effigy burning, military bashing fascists. You haven't said otherwise and I'm willing you will not be able to find it within yourself to say. "I hate these radical peacenik leftist assholes. I hate it that they give Democrats a bad name. I don't want anything to do with them. I denounce their unpatriotic activities. Real Democrats don't act like they do." You can't say it because you identify with them. In this case, its a little hard to denounce something where there's no specific evidence of what actually happened. Was a "soldier" burned in effigy? An American soldier, or a soldier in general? There was no "legitimate" news coverage of the event, so its understandable that no one has denounced it. If you want me do denounce the shameful way that our troops returning from Viet Nam were treated, I'll do that here and now: it was shameful. If there is any recurrence of that no, I'll denounce that also. But one isolated act, not covered by the media, does not require the written denunciation from the majority of Americans that are "left of center." As I recall, you didn't "apologize" for Tim McVeigh, in fact you called him a "patriot." Sorry, Neal, you haven't a leg to stand on here, you directly support the terrorists trying to destroy our country. |
