special on the Higgins boat on the Discovery Channel a few days ago.
The only boat that was nicknamed a "Higgins boat" was the LCVP.

But I would say that to dumb jarheads, and lubbers, and TV sailors the
most common model of a higgins boat they have seen is the LCVP. That
was indeed his bread and butter boat. But no real mariner would limit
Higgins accomplishments to his ugliest boat.

Higgins sea stories all the time.

When first assigned to a ship in the Navy, in boats division, my first
boat was a rotting plywood & Oak Higgins LCM.

Liberty, and diver's boat, Captains Gig, and Admiral's barge on the
Stbd side. I went to Amphibious Coxswain School and all they had were
Higgens boats. I ran various Higgins, Elco's ect for 4 years.

But you watched a TV show, so now your an expert on Higgins slang.

I have an honorable discharge from the USMC also. Boot camp at MCRD in
the 60's. - Not too many of us around.

Regarding your pictures, I'm curious about the one showing RedCloud
approaching the cameraman (or woman) 110 miles offshore. Who was taking
the picture, and where was she/he at the time?
