Lamar Lundy
For those of you who follow Pro Football, We lost one of the Greats
------------------------------------ Lamar Lundy dies at 71 Lamar Lundy, who many feel was one of Richmond's most famous athletes having played defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams, died at 3:10 a.m. Saturday at Reid Hospital after a long illness. Lundy, who battled diabetes, Graves disease, myasthenia gravis, cancer and heart failure — some for more than four decades — was 71. Lundy leaves a vibrant legacy in the world of sports and in Richmond, the hometown he returned to in the 1980s. He is best known as one of the Fearsome Foursome, the defensive linemen of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1960s. In December, bedridden, he spoke with Palladium-Item Sports Editor Mike Bennett on a range of issues from his spirituality to his passion for sports and his failing health. Despite 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, Lundy died a Colts fan during the same month the team won the Super Bowl. Lundy leaves two adult sons and two adult daughters and many grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending.
