Need O'Day 31 Line Diameters & Owner's Manual
I just bought a 1986 O'Day 31. I received a lot of paperwork with the
boat, but no owner's manual. Is there an owner's manual for this boat? If anyone has one, I would like to get a copy. I have to replace all the running rigging on the boat. The rigging is very worn, but it appears that the size of the lines are as follows: Reefing lines: 3/8" Jib Halyard: 3/8" Main Sheet: 1/2" Main Halyard: 3/8" Can anyone confirm that these are the right line sizes? Thanks for any assistance. |

Thanks for any assistance A Google search might turn up an owners group with a online manual. As far as replacing running rigging goes those sizes sound fine although upgrading to a slightly higher tech line would allow you to drop down a size in halyards particularly the jib halyard. Mainsheet would not have to be high tech and you could still drop down to 3/8" I use 3/8" StaSet on my boat and it has a bigger main than yours. Buy solid black for the mainsheet. |

Buy solid black for the mainsheet. Why? Scott, I like solid black for the mainsheet because it's always being handled and it lays on the cabin sole and gets stepped on. After all that it still looks good. Anything else looks crappy after a season. I also use black for the outhaul and Harken jib cars. That jib car line is always getting stepped on too. Everything else is color coded. |

P.S. I am a brand new sailor. This is my first boat. I do not have much
to offer in the line of advice to people who have been sailing for any period of time. I was just looking for a little help. You are a jerk. "Ringmaster" wrote in message oups.com... I thought I had replied, being a former owner of 2 O'Day's...but maybe I didn't...mine were originals, not Person built or Lear built, which I believe, is what your is. With the European style cabin? We were very happy with the perfotmance of our 27. Have no idea who you would wirte regarding manuals etc, but there is an O'Day discussion group somewhere. Is SailNet still in existence? THat's where it used to be. |
