![]() "DSK" wrote in message . .. And why would they launch more fighters when they always have a CAP overhead? "Gilligan" The CAP flies a 200 mile radius, it's not overhead. "Scotty" wrote It flies underhead? Underhanded Gilligan wrote: At 200 miles they are over the horizon and below you. And only minutes away. 20 seconds to execute turn, 200 miles at 600 mph = 20 minutes, 30 seconds to decelerate, we're looking at 21 minutes. Even at 1200 mph we're looking at 12 minutes not counting time to acquire target. The carrier plane guard is to keep planes out, it is not too responsive to planes on top of the carrier. As well the question, how is a slow drone going to penetrate the CAP radius? Does it drop in from outer space, directly above the carrier? Or does it materialze from another space-time continuum? Iran has biplanes? No, just toy airplanes with the capability to fly undetected over American aircraft carriers for 20 minutes and then evade aircraft without getting shot down. I'm telling you, they have time travel. I think it is the flying carpets. DSK |
