Not nearly as many ASAers as it takes to argue if it's even necessary
to change the bulb, and who's to blame for leaving the damn thing on,
and burning it out in the first place. I'll check back again in a
couple months.

I read (between the lines) Robert is finally going for an extended
rehab and will not be able to post. Good. I hope it takes this time.

You think that leaving a light on will make it burn out?

It's all about cycles...

It's all about cycles...

While the lack of cycles no doubt contributes to the longevity of that
particular bulb, the fact that it's a dim 4 watt bulb with a low
temperature filament is the determining factor for longevity.

Higher temp in the filament means a shorter lifespan. The easiest way
to prolong the life of a bulb is to have a lower temperature filament,
the problem is that you need high temps to produce white light. In this
case, the bulb barely glows a deep red, which is enough for a nightlight.
