Well, I might have done given a bit of time, but after my initial iconoclastic reaction, I realised that Vegemite is a US company & US brand after all, so it's only the standard, sad case of the US shooting its own best interests in the foot, hardly worth even a raised eyebrow. Despairingly yours, FT -- Flying Tadpole ---------------------------------- www.flyingtadpole.com http://www.soundclick.com/flyingtadpole http://music.download.com/timfatchen http://music.download.com/internetopera Don't despair dear Tadpole. Look at it as the US simply reciprocating, not to be confused with vacillating. Vegemite is to Australians as guns are to Americans. We can't take our guns to your country. You can't take that viscuous laxative here. With that arrangement how can anyone be shot in the foot? Ahem. At the risk of repeating myself, Kraft Foods & Vegemite brand are entirely US-owned. Is denying a multitude of Australian expatriates in the US their daily vitamin B & folate fix worth the loss of sales revenue? Anyway, re the US guns; on my last recent run through Woomera, there were American guns everywhere! Obviously you have given much thought to good old crafty American politiking. The ban is an obvious ploy to create jobs in America. Vast factories will be set up to supply the phenomenal demand for vegemite here in the US. Fortunately gun owners subdued the run on grocery stores for stockpilers of the yeasty smear. For now American vegemite producers will have to get by on huge subsidies to make up for the loss in income. It's an election year. Yesterday - French cheese, today -vegemite, tomorrow -The World! Presumably the original purchase of Kraft was in the mistaken belief that it harboured a Weapon of Mouth Destruction. I take it no American gun has shot you in the foot since you ran through Woomera. No. The guns were fixed to the wings of stationary aircraft and couldn't be depressed in time. I, on the other hand, am easily depressed. -- Flying Tadpole ---------------------------------- http://www.soundclick.com/flyingtadpole http://music.download.com/timfatchen http://music.download.com/internetopera |
